An investigation continues into the alleged theft of an SUV with two children in the back.

Camden County Prosecutors Office spokesman Andy McNeil said no charges have been filed against the mother of the two young children so far, and an investigation into the incident continues.

Magnolia Police said two young children were in back of a SUV taken by Paulsboro resident Christopher Dumas from the parking lot of Columbo's Liquors on the White Horse Pike late Saturday night. The mother of the children, a Mount Ephraim woman whose identity has not been disclosed by police, had left the engine running as she went into the store, authorities have said.

Dumas drove the SUV into Audubon, where he crashed the car, police have said.

Dumas was charged with two counts each of kidnapping and endangering a child plus theft of a motor vehicle. Multiple motor vehicle charges are expected to be filed against Dumas, McNeil said.

Dumas, the children and driver of the another SUV involved in the crash were all hospitalized and released on Sunday.
