Twenty-eight-year-old David Carroccia of Warren made the request during a court hearing Monday. It was opposed by Morris County prosecutors, who cited Carroccia's three previous arrests and his "potential ties" to Florida, claiming it made him a flight risk.

The judge eventually denied the request, but told Carroccia his attorney could seek to have the bail lowered at a later date. Carroccia, who was arrested Thursday, said he has hired an attorney and would meet with him Tuesday.

Carroccia faces four counts of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery. In each case, the robber was dressed in a suit jacket.
