No Bail For Man Charged in NJ Train Station Brawl
A homeless man who authorities say critically injured an acquaintance during a weekend brawl at a northern New Jersey train station will now be held without bail.
A state judge issued the order Monday, after a public defender unsuccessfully sought to have 25-year-old Hakeem Gordon's bail set at $50,000.
Gordon was charged with aggravated assault following Sunday morning's fight at the Hoboken PATH station.
Port Authority police say security video shows Gordon pushed 47-year-old Dwayne Anthony from the station's top railing to the platform below. Anthony, whose last known address was in Jersey City, suffered a fractured skull and remained hospitalized in critical condition and on a respirator.
Police say Gordon was identified as the assailant due to a "very distinct" blue jacket he was wearing.
