New Jersey's acting education commissioner says he will review whether the state's recently imposed salary cap for school superintendents has had an impact on school districts.

Chris Cerf discussed his plans Wednesday while speaking to the New Jersey Association of School Administrators, a meeting that was attended by about 500 school superintendents.

The issue came up during a question-and-answer session, when two superintendents told Cerf that the year-old salary caps have caused "a brain drain."

Several administrators have raised concerns about the $175,000 salary cap in recent months.

They note that while the Christie administration has been promoting its own agenda for recruiting and developing effective teachers, its salary cap was making it harder for school boards to hire and keep experienced superintendents.
