A 29-year-old woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for hiring a hit man online to kill a romantic rival and attempting to pay for the deed with stolen credit cards.

Marissa Mark pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy, identity theft and related counts.

Prosecutors said Mark was living in Allentown when she went to a website and agreed in September 2006 to pay $37,000 to have her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend shot in the head. Investigators said

Mark used three stolen credit cards to make a $19,000 down payment. She was arrested last March at her home in Jersey City, N.J. The intended victim wasn't harmed.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Gene Pratter on Friday also ordered Mark to pay a $1,500 fine.
