A Brooklyn woman has been charged with stealing $200,000 from her 86-year-old relative who lives in Middlesex County.

Prosecutor Andrew Carey said Susan Obel, 61, took money from her 86-year-old from Monroe relative in various amounts between October 2013 and December 2015he .

Oble used the money to buy clothing, jewelry and real estate, Carey said.

The name of the relative and her relationship with Obel was not disclosed by Carey.

Obel is charged with theft by deception, forgery, uttering a forged check, credit card theft, and unlawful use of a credit card. She was released after posting $75,000 bail. Carey said the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Elder Abuse and Exploitation Team, which is dedicated to curbing crimes committed against senior citizens, conducted the investigation.
