Police say the woman was punched in the face and grabbed by the throat when she stepped into the yard.

Her purse was found later on Edgar Street.

Police tell The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick the woman was bleeding from her left ear and her right eye was swollen shut.

She was treated at a hospital and police are looking for a suspect.
