Police said Monday that the five suspects were arrested Friday at Cheddi Jagan Airport as they were preparing to board an outgoing Delta Airlines flight.

The suspects were identified as Shaniqua Johnson and Regaj Hoyte of Brooklyn, Andrea Roberts and Melissa Geria from Queens, and Dawn Sinara of New Jersey. The group pleaded not guilty to the charges on Monday when they made their first court appearance.

If convicted, the suspects face up to five years in prison.

There have been several drug smuggling cases on Guyana flights to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport over the last year.
