NJ Utilities Hope to Have Most Power Restored by Midnight
About 30,000 utility customers still are without power in New Jersey due to last weekend's rare October snowstorms.
The state's two major utilities say they expect to have power restored to more than 95 percent of customers.
PSE&G says it has restored service to 98 percent of the more than 571,000 customers who were affected by the storm. Crews from as far away as Mississippi are targeting the remaining 12,000 customers.
Jersey Central Power & Light says it has restored power to 300,000 customers, about 90 percent of those affected. It expects to have power restored by midnight Thursday to 95 percent, though scattered outages will remain into the weekend.
The number of school districts that remain closed in New Jersey has dwindled to little more than a handful.
