Both the express and local lanes of the turnpike were shut down in both directions around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, between exit 71 in Leonia and the George Washington Bridge. The closure is expected to last for about two hours.

Northbound Turnpike traffic is being directed onto Interstate 80 westbound, while eastbound I-80 traffic will be directed onto the southbound Turnpike. And southbound traffic crossing the bridge will be diverted onto Routes 4, 1&9 and 46.
