New Jersey state troopers will be deployed to barrier islands hard-hit by Superstorm Sandy to provide extra security.

Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa and state police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes say the troopers will work with local law enforcement in devastated shore communities.

Officials planned a news conference for Thursday afternoon at the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management in Berkeley Township.
