ROXBURY — A State Police officer injured when he was rear-ended on Route 80 early Sunday morning.

The officer, who was on duty,  was heading east near exit 30 for Howard Boulevard when a BMW hit him from behind, State Police spokesman Sgt. Lawrence Peele told NJ.com.

The officer and the driver were both hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries, Peele said in the story.

Peele did not disclose the name of the officer to the news site, nor the circumstances of the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
