NJ Transit Unveils Storm Plan

NEWARK (AP) — New Jersey Transit has a new plan to protect its trains and buses during severe storms and other disasters.

The 16-page document outlines how the agency would respond to weather emergencies, terrorist attacks, earthquakes and other major events.

The Record newspaper  reports the plan calls for officials to begin developing a plan four days before a storm hits.

NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says the plan will continue to be reviewed and updated.

NJ Transit was criticized for not moving rail cars and locomotives out of a rail yard in Kearny and another one in Hoboken during Superstorm Sandy. Flooding caused more than $100 million in damage.
