NJ Transit on Thursday expanded the MyTix app, allowing riders to the Port Authority, George Washington Bridge and Lower Manhattan terminals to purchase their monthly passes on web-enabled iOS or Android devices.

The app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, can also be used to display monthly passes to drivers or conductors.

The technology was already in use for 59 bus lines in South Jersey and all rail lines. Nearly 400,000 accounts have been opened by NJ Transit riders since the My Tix app was first introduced in a pilot program on the Pasack Valley Line in April, 2013.

“This expansion of the mobile ticketing app is another step toward giving all of our bus customers the ability to treat their smart phones as both a ticket vending machine and monthly bus pass all in one," said Executive Director Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim in a statement.
