Agency officials announced Saturday night that limited service will be restored Monday morning on the Bergen and Pascack Valley lines. Also being restored Monday is limited service from High Bridge to Newark on the Raritan Valley Line.

NJ Transit also says a new discounted ferry service will start service on Monday.

Operated by New York Waterway, it will run from Hoboken Terminal to Pier 79 on West 39th Street in midtown Manhattan. Officials say that should help alleviate some congestion at the Port Authority Bus terminal in New York and give customers traveling to Manhattan additional travel options.

Riders can purchase $10 round-trip tickets at a special ticket booth that will be established Monday at the Hoboken terminal. And customers using this ferry service will be able to use free New York Waterway shuttle buses for further travel within Manhattan.

“We have been trying to put up an awful lot of new services to make up for the rail service that’s been lost due to the hurricane, especially service along the Northeast Corridor,” NJ Transit Executive Director James Weinstein told The Associated Press. “Rail service won’t be back to normal soon by any stretch, but people will be able to make their trips (in and out of New York).”
