NJ Transit and Amtrak commuters will end the week with 30 to 60 minute delays due to emergency track work in the north tube of the Hudson River tunnel.

Amtrak spokesman Craig Schultz said the problem started with signal problems Friday afternoon.

"Our engineering guys are in there now trying to assess what's going on," he said. "They think it will probably be a couple hours worth of work," which will lead to delays through at least the early part of the afternoon commute.

Single tracking is now in effect, which means that only one train at a time can pass through.

NJ Transit rail tickets/passes are being cross-honored by PATH and NJT bus service including private bus carriers.
