NJ to Assist Those Affected By Mail Truck Fire

The Christie administration is directing state agencies to help New Jerseyans affected by a mail truck fire Sept. 11 on the New Jersey Turnpike.

The administration says nearly every piece of mail on the box truck was destroyed when it collided with a bigger truck and caught fire near Hightstown, in central New Jersey. The driver was killed in the accident.

Mail collected from ZIP codes starting with 070 to 076, 078, 079, 088 or 089 was lost. It was most likely collected from Sept. 7 to 10.

Those who may have had letters or packages bound for government offices on the truck should check with the appropriate state agency to determine their status. The administration says it wants to ensure no one is penalized or loses state benefits due them.
