Their Facebook postings, first noticed by a parent, led police to fear for the safety of students at Hopatcong High School.

In their postings, the New Jersey Herald reports (http://bit.ly/16jovtR ), one student talked about the possibility of going to jail.  Another said the school could expect Wednesday to be one of its worst days.

At police headquarters, each handed over a shopping bag containing small jeweler's bags filled with oregano and Italian spices combined to look like marijuana.

The students, who were suspended, had planned to plant the fake pot all around their school.

Police say the students didn't realize how their comments could be interpreted.
