Acting Sgt. 1st Class Glenn Mannino of Little Silver is barred from future public employment and must resign as part of a plea deal.

The 52-year-old served for nearly 27 years with the State Police and was formerly an assistant unit head of the Criminal Justice Information System Control Unit.

The Star-Ledgers reports that (http://bit.ly/1hrjeri ) prosecutors will recommend Mannino be sentenced to probation.

Mannino admitted Friday in Superior Court in Mercer County that between October 2009 and June 2011 he fabricated reports for law enforcement agencies that he was assigned to audit.

He never did the audits, but instead lied about visiting the agencies and made false timekeeping entries.
