A pastor from Union City has been accused of sexually abusing two teen girls at his church.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes on Friday night announced the arrest of Vicitacio
Rivas-Valle of Union City. The arrest took place Tuesday.

The 68-year-old pastor was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the third-degree, and two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree.

Authorities said the charges were "for committing acts of sexual contact and sexual conduct with two female teenage children who were members of Mr. Rivas-Valle’s church in Union City." They didn't name the church.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred in Clifton over a two-year period and involved victims between 13 and 16 years old, authorities said.

Rivas-Valle’s bail was set at $50,000 with no 10 percent option.

Each endangering count carries a prison term of up to five years, and each sexual contact count carries a term of up to 18 months.
