Ashija Jones began playing basketball in a local park at the age of 3 and as she grew, so did her passion for the game. A Native of Piscataway Township, NJ Jones graduated from Piscataway Township High School as one of the most highly recruited players in her graduating year.

After being named a McDonald’s All-American, Jones accepted a scholarship to play for the University of Connecticut. At Connecticut, Jones played a critical role in winning the 2000 and 2002 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship. After college Jones was drafted 4th overall in the WNBA draft to the Washington Mystics and was later traded to the Connecticut Sun in 2004. Jones made the National team in 2009 and competed in the 2010 World Championship.

Jones will be competing in her first Olympics as a forward on the U.S. Women’s Basketball Team.
