The Defense Department's only tri-service military base has a new leader.Air Force Col. James Hodges took command of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and the 87th Air Base Wing during a ceremony in New Jersey Thursday. He succeeded Col. John Wood.

Hodges was commander of the 6th Mission Support Group at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.

Wood has been selected for the rank of brigadier general and is being reassigned as deputy director of strategic plans, requirements and programs at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst includes active-duty, reserve and guard service members of the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.
