NJ Marinas Get Money to Fix Damage from Sandy
Three New Jersey marinas are getting federal money for repairs and upgrades after being damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
The state Transportation Department announced the grants Thursday, though they were awarded last month by the federal government as part of a package of grants across the country to support recreational boating.
Belmar Municipal Marina is to receive $270,000 to fix docks, gangways and utilities and to add a new security system and a wireless Internet system. Silver Cloud Marina in Forked River is getting $66,000 to renovate a section of bulkhead and install power, water and new lighting. Grassy Sound Marina in Middle Township is getting $36,000 to repair damaged gangways and utilities and add bathrooms, among other projects.
