PENNSVILLE - Police have arrested a 46-year-old man in they say stabbed his wife to death while three children were asleep in the home.

Nitin Singh is being charged with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault and weapons possession charges, Pennsville police said in a statement.

Chief of Police Allen J. Cummings told NJ Advance Media earlier Tuesday the stabbing "appears to be the result of a domestic dispute" between Singh and his wife, 42-year-old Seema Singh.

According to the article, rescue workers responded to the North Broadway home in response to reports of a person with a respiratory emergency. When police arrived, they found Seema Singh on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds and her husband standing over her, covered in blood, police told NJ Advance Media.

The article states that police awoke the three children, ages 6 through 16, and took them out of the home, steering them away from their mother's dead body.

Nitin Singh was questioned by police and later arrested and charged with the murder. He is being held in the Salem County Correctional Facility on $1 million full cash bail, police said.
