An East Orange man has been indicted on after allegedly murdering of two of his ex-girlfriends and another man over the course of a single weekend, authorities said Wednesday.

Jeffrey Holland, 27 was indicted by a grand jury on 17 counts in the murders of Ashley Jones, 23; Jarrell Marshall, 28 and Tiniquah Rouse, 21 all of Newark.

The murders took place between Jan. 29 and 30, and all three took place in the presence of children, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office says.

Prosecutors say that on Jan. 29, Holland went to Rouse’s home. Once inside he allegedly strangled the woman in a bathtub.

Holland then took Rouse’s 5-month-old baby and left the child, unattended, inside a closet, according to authorities.

The following day, police say, Holland broke into the home where Jones and Marshall lived. Both victims were shot "steps away from three children," ages 1, 3 and 4, according to the prosecutor's office.

Authorities said in a statement that Holland is the biological father of Jones' 1-year-old and 4-year-old children. The 3-year-old is the daughter of Marshall and another woman.

The children were not physically harmed, the prosecutor's office said.

At the time of the murders, police say, Holland had a restraining order barring him from having any contact with Jones.

Holland was indicted on several charges in addition to murder, including: felony murder, burglary, desecration of human remains, hindering apprehension theft by unlawful taking, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. In addition, Holland was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Holland is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2.5 million bail. He will be arraigned July 25.
