HACKETTSTOWN — An argument over a cell phone turned into a violent, bloody scene Tuesday morning on Main Street, police said.

Luis Ortega-Calle, 50, of Hackettstown ripped a door off its hinges, entered an apartment, slammed a chair over a person inside and the punched the individual in the face, according to police who found him with blood on his hands.

Police said the victim was found in a stairwell bleeding from the face and taken to Hackettstown Medical Center.

Police did not explain what the argument over the cell phone was about.

Calle was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief and being held pending $5,000 bail at the Warren County Correctional Facility.
