A 30-year-old Pleasantville man died Sunday of injuries he sustained in a Dec. 23 incident, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release Monday. The medical examiner has determined the cause of death to be a homicide.

Jahlil Hunter succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at 3:40 a.m. He was pronounced dead by AtlantiCare Regional Medical Centera City Division Dr. Marlon Pastrana.Ebony Harris, 22, was also seriously injured in the assault at the Greenfield Avenue residence. She remains in critical condition.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain, Pleasantville Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded too the residents in response to a 911 call on Dec. 23 at 9:23 p.m. The caller reported that that "two residents of the home had been discovered inside incapacitated—both bleeding and suffering from significant physical trauma," the prosecutor said in a press release.
Both Hunter and Harris were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center— City Division, for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Harris was later transferred to Cooper Hospital.
"The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and, with the Pleasantville Police Department, has been continuously investigating the incident since that night," the press release states. "An autopsy of Jahlil Hunter was performed yesterday by New Jersey Southern Regional State Medical Examiner’s Office Dr. Gerald Feigin. Dr. Feigin determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries to the head, and the manner of death: homicide."
No suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pleasantville Police Department are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact the Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7666, or the Pleasantville Police Department at 609-641-6100.
