Driven by personal loss and a desire to raise money for pediatric cancer research, math teacher Kyle Gurkovich set out to beat a world record for most pull ups in 24 hours. In June he set a new world record of 4,182. Before him the record was held by a Navy SEAL. Then a professional athlete from Australia, Caine Eckstein, beat it last month doing 4,210.

Saturday morning, Kyle returned to Retro Fitness in Piscataway and began a new attempt at 8:00 am. By Sunday morning at 8:00 am he had performed 4,234. Now comes the wait for the official Guinness recognition for the second time.
