WALL — A man who admitted to sexually assaulting an elderly patient will be sentenced to seven years in prison as part of a plea deal announced by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Todd Fulton, 43, of Hazlet, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of second-degree official misconduct, according to Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

While the victim could not identify Fulton, Gramiccioni said forensic evidence was used to connect him to the crime. At the time of the assaults he was employed as a certified nursing assistant at the Geraldine Thompson Nursing Home, which was owned by the county.

Fulton will be sentenced to seven years on the sexual assault charge with a recommendation of a concurrent five-year prison term on the official misconduct charge with five years of parole ineligibility. He would also be subject to the No Early Release Act, requiring him to serve 85 percent of his sentence. Fulton will also be required to register under Megan's Law.

Gramiccioni said Fulton is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. He is represented by Joseph Compitello of Tinton Falls.
