A Blackwood man was charged in connection with faking a report about finding four pieces of candy with sewing needles inside.

Robert Ledrew, 37, reported the tainted candy on Sunday afternoon, according to Gloucester Township Police, who said they soon discovered that Ledrew had posted a picture of the candy the day before he called police on his Facebook page and had put the needles in the candy himself.

The report comes amid several reports of needles being found in candy handed out on Halloween in the Philadelphia suburbs of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and Gloucester County's Woodbury Heights.

Ledrew was charged with with making a false police report and released on a criminal summons pending court date.
