NJ Judge Allegedly Harbored Suspected Armed Robber

Prosecutors say a suspended New Jersey judge hindered authorities searching for a suspected armed robber.

State Superior Court Judge Carlia Brady was arrested Tuesday at her home in Woodbridge. She was charged with hindering the apprehension of another.

Charging documents released by the Middlesex County prosecutor's office Thursday allege Brady harbored suspected armed robber Jason Prontnicki in her home for about an hour. Their relationship was not immediately known.

Brady was suspended without pay Wednesday. An advisory committee on judicial conduct is reviewing the case.

The 41-year-old Brady began serving on the bench in Middlesex County in April. She could not be reached by phone Thursday.

Hindering apprehension of another can be considered a second-, third- or fourth-degree offense depending on the parties' relationship and the type of crime charged.
