KINGWOOD — A hunter was airlifted to a hospital for injuries he suffered after falling 20 feet from a tree stand Saturday in Hunterdon County.

New Jersey State police say the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in Kingwood. The name of the hunter and his condition have not been released.

According to NJ.com, crews from the Kingwood Fire Department used an off-road ATV to transport the injured hunter out of the woods, where members of the Quakertown Rescue Squad took him by ambulance to a waiting medivac helicopter.

It is not clear if the man was hunting alone or with others, or who made the call to authorities.
