A 10-year-old is blamed for sickening dozens of people at a baptism celebration in a church social hall in northern New Jersey.

Living Word Community Church pastor Frank Bolella in Dumont tells The Record newspaper the girl sprayed pepper spray into a napkin "apparently to impress her friends." Bolella says the girl was sitting near the door so everyone who passed by got a whiff.

The child's mother had given her the spray for protection.

As many as 30 people at the party Saturday complained of difficulty breathing, chest pains and irritated throats. Two were taken to a hospital for treatment.
