Gas prices continue to stay low in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of regular gasoline in New Jersey on Friday was $3.49, down 5 cents from last week. But that's still much higher than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.20.

“Gas prices continue to fall into December, a trend that began over two months ago,” said Tracy Noble, spokesperson for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “With regional gas station outages from superstorm Sandy now resolved and somewhat eased tension in the Middle East, experts believe the national average gas price will continue to decline through year’s end and into the new year.”

Meanwhile, the national average price fell by 3 cents to $3.40. That's still higher than the national average from a year ago, which was $3.30.

Analysts say gas prices should continue to fall in New Jersey in the coming weeks as demand decreases.
