“With firefighters ready to roll at the sound of the alarm , we must be certain that they are sufficiently trained and equipped to handle emergencies safely and effectively,” said U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).

U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) said in addition, “These funds will allow local fire departments to purchase the most modern safety equipment available and boost their capacity to respond in case of a fire.”

The grant is distributed through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
