New Jersey's board of dentistry has revoked the license of a Monmouth County dentist who it says defrauded patients and failed to give them proper treatment.

The board found that Marc Weber failed to take readable X-rays and treated healthy teeth that didn't need dental work. It also found he steered patients to companies for financing their dental treatments without telling patients that he and his staff received commissions from those companies.

Weber was fined $250,000 and ordered to pay the state $160,000 for investigative and legal expenses. He also has to pay $32,000 in restitution to 10 patients.

He is banned from re-applying for a license for at least three years.

Weber practiced dentistry in Red Bank and Manalapan.

An attorney who represented him didn't return a message Thursday.
