The nor'easter that socked New Jersey this weekend has spurred state officials to extend the deadline for eligible homeowners to apply for credits on their property tax bill.

All "senior freeze" and homestead benefit applications had been due by Monday.

But state Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff said those deadlines would now be extended by a week to Nov. 7.

Officials say the average Senior Freeze payment this year will be about $1,152, while the average Homestead credit will be about $475.
