CLARK — A DWI checkpoint will be held from Saturday into Sunday for drivers entering the Garden State Parkway over the weekend.

The Clark police announced the checkpoint will be set up on the northbound side of Brant Avenue in front of Mother Seton High School. Police said cars getting onto the Parkway will be subject to the checkpoint before getting on the highway.

"The main goals of this checkpoint are to promote traffic safety within the Township of Clark and to reduce the number of motor vehicle operators who violate the DWI laws through high visibility enforcement," Det. Sergeant Christian Lott said in a statement.

The checkpoint will be in effect from 9 p.m. on Saturday night until 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.
