NJ Driver Sent to Prison For Hit-and-Run Death
A southern New Jersey woman has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide for the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist.
Forty-two-year-old Mary Dalton of Redstone hit rider Thomas McCoy in September 2010 and drove another mile before her truck broke down and police picked her up.
Her blood-alcohol level was .235 -- or nearly three times the legal limit.
At her sentencing Thursday, Dalton said she lives with pain every day because of her actions, adding "it doesn't compare to the pain I caused them."
She must serve 85 percent of her prison sentence before being eligible for parole.
