Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver is urging fellow New Jersey Democrats to get their act together before the governor's race this fall.

Oliver told attendees at the party's annual Jefferson Jackson dinner the November election is too important for Democrats to sit on their hands.

Democratic Sen. Barbara Buono is a significant underdog against popular Republican Gov. Chris Christie.

Oliver said Thursday Democrats have a responsibility to try to unseat a governor who has his eyes on a presidential run in 2016.

Party Chairman John Wisniewski says the party is fortunate to have a gubernatorial candidate who is as "tenacious" and "hardworking" as Buono.
