Department of Human Services spokeswoman Nicole Brossoie says the tent community built for 2,000 at Monmouth Park racetrack was too big for the 200 or so remaining evacuees.

She also says the tent structures will be torn down sooner than expected as utility workers and law enforcement officials staying in a similar complex start heading home.

The evacuees are being moved to the racetrack’s clubhouse on Saturday. Brossoie says it’s not clear how many will make the move and how many will move in with friends or family.

About 130 people staying at shelters in Ocean County are also being moved into the clubhouse on Friday.
