NJ Chemist Convicted of Fatally Poisoning Husband

A New Jersey chemist accused of fatally poisoning her estranged husband with thallium she got at work has been convicted of murder.

A Middlesex County jury also found Tianle Li guilty Tuesday of hindering her own prosecution. She faces life in prison when she's sentenced Sept. 30.

The 44-year-old Li worked for pharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb for 10 years. Prosecutors claimed she murdered Xiaoye Wang by poisoning him with thallium, a highly toxic metal, while they were in the process of divorcing.

Authorities said Li got the chemical at work and slipped it in her 39-year-old husband's food in the weeks before he died in January 2011. They said she killed him because she didn't want the divorce.

The couple had a young son.
