U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced the Community Oriented Policing Services grants Monday. Overall, more than $111 million is being provided for more than 800 law enforcement positions nationwide.

Atlantic City, Jersey City and Trenton will get most of the funding for New Jersey. Trenton gets $3 million to hire 12 officers, while the Atlantic City and Jersey City each got $1.8 million to hire 15 new officers.

The other six cities getting funds are Bayonne, Bridgeton, Haledon, Hamilton Township, Newfield and Wildwood.

All the new positions must be filled by recent military veterans who have served at least 180 days since Sept. 11, 2001.
