NEW YORK (AP) -- Millions of viewers were reading tweets while they watched TV last season.

A report on Twitter activity from Nielsen Social finds that, between last September and May 24, NBC's Super Bowl telecast was the season's biggest TV event in the Twitterverse all season. A total of 16.1 million people saw tweets about the game, halftime show and ads. A total of 25.1 million tweets were sent.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" had the largest audience on Twitter across the season with an average 4.3 million people seeing tweets about each new episode.

"The 57th Annual Grammy Awards" on CBS was the season's top entertainment special, with 13.3 million members in the Twitter TV audience.
