After a beautiful summer weekend, New Jersey's weather will take a turn for the muggy and wet through the middle of the week.

Here are your weather headlines for Monday, July 13, 2015...

Summertime Temperatures

We're coming off a weekend that will likely rank among the top of Summer 2015, with its sunshine, warm temperatures, low humidity, and lack of rain. Some changes are ahead for the week ahead. But it looks like we'll avoid the horrendous heat and the scary severe weather this week. Good news all around.

On Monday, humidity will rise slowly across New Jersey, leading to that muggy, sticky feeling returning to the air by this afternoon and this evening. Meanwhile, a few clouds will creep through the sky and there's a chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm at any time (especially this afternoon). All in all, your Monday is looking very good. Inland highs will be in the near-normal 83° to 88° range, while a stiff sea breeze keeps the Jersey Shore cooler (likely in the mid to upper 70s).

The humidity will keep things a bit steamy for Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures staying in the 80s. In fact, for the entire week ahead, we'll keep high temperatures in the 80s. Low temperatures will vary from the 70s in humid air, to 60s as we dry out later this week.

Showers & Storms

The increase in humidity and an approaching hardly-moving front will again provide ammunition for some rain chances, particularly for Tuesday and Wednesday. As impulses of vorticity ride through New Jersey, we'll see a persistent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms from about Tuesday afternoon through early Thursday morning. At the moment, the NAM puts some bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms on top of us for early Wednesday morning and again Wednesday afternoon/evening. (The GFS is generally drier and calmer.) Instability and precipitable water is moderate at best all week... So while we could see some stormy periods on Tuesday and especially Wednesday, I really don't expect any prolonged periods of heavy rain or widespread severe weather at this time.

Clearing Out...

By sunrise Thursday morning, skies should be clearing nicely and humidity should be falling. If this forecast holds, Thursday and Friday could be a pair of weather winner days, with high temperatures in the lower 80s, abundant sunshine, and a pleasant breeze.

The early look at next weekend is mostly great. There is a chance of a shower or (strong-ish?) thunderstorm on Saturday. Otherwise, we're looking clear and warm for the rest of Saturday and all day Sunday.
