On the loose: Police say this man is a wanted murderer

Newark Police are looking for a suspect in the October death of Darnell Smith, the city's 81st murder of the year.

Acting Essex County Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray issued a warrant for Darryl A. Craft, 24 of Newark for the shooting death of Smith in the 200 block of 6th Street in Newark. He is charged with murder, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Murray said in a statement. His bail has been set at $1 million.

According to Newark Police, there have been 92 murders this year compared to 87 at this time in 2014.
