Newark Mayor Opens Doors to Sandy-Affected Residents
The mayor of New Jersey's largest city was once known for shoveling the snow off residents' cars. That was before he went into a burning building to rescue his neighbor. And all of that was before Superstorm Sandy.
Now, Newark Mayor Cory Booker is opening his doors to storm-affected residents, offering a sympathetic ear and, more importantly, an electrical outlet.
Booker, a prolific Twitter user, has been tweeting to residents complaining of being without power to come by his place and charge their phones.
He sent a message from ?his (at)CoryBooker handle saying "I'm having lunch delivered for the 12 or so of you hanging at my place."
One resident using the Twitter handle (at)uniquenj1, messaged back: "taking u up on your offer. Chillin at your place."
