Newark Mayor Has “Stellar” Rating, According to Poll
No surprise -- Newark Mayor Cory Booker's image has gotten a major boost from his daring rescue of a neighbor from her burning home.
A Fairleigh Dickinson-PublicMind poll out Friday shows Booker with a 47 percent favorability rating. Just 6 percent rated him unfavorably, and others hadn't heard of him.
Pollsters say that makes for a "stellar" 8-to-1 favorability rating, which they say is rare for any mayor.
That's an increase over the 39 percent who had a favorable view of Booker in a January poll.
The mayor garnered nationwide headlines in April after rushing into a burning building to save a woman.
The telephone poll of 797 voters was conducted April 30 through May 6 and has an error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
