NEWARK - A Newark man was arrested in connection with stealing a donation box filled with funds for cancer patients, authorities said Sunday.

Daniel Santos, 23, was arrested after police asked for the public's help and later received a tip from the city man's boss and co-workers who recognized him as the alleged thief.

The charity box was stolen on June 8 from a bakery on Ferry Street, NJ Advance Media has reported. Santos has been charged with theft, the article states. NewarkPublic Safety Director Anthony Ambrose told NJ Advance Media that the extensive media coverage following the theft helped authorities track down the suspect.
