NEWARK — Problems with equipment caused lengthy delays for passengers at Newark Liberty International Airport Monday.

According to an alert posted by the Federal Aviation Administration, the problem impacted both arrivals and departures. As of about 8:45, airline passengers could expect delays up to about 45 minutes, the FAA said on its webiste.

According to NJ Advance Media, the Port Authority reported that the United Airlines tower lost power twice between 5 and 7:30 p.m. and the outages disrupted communication with aircraft.

The problem was resolved, but some delays were expected to continue, the article states.
